Is a King bed worth it?

King beds’large scale, the most distinguishing characteristic, brings plenty of advantages that meet the different needs of diffe

There is a saying that King beds are the ultimate in luxury.

You may not be surprised about this saying after learning about the exact size of a standard king bed. It is generally 76 inches in width, and 80 inches in length. (PS: California King size differs, which is 72″ x 84″) Some specific types deriving from the king beds can even be larger. For example, the Alaska king bed, best for couples with different sleeping positions, is generally 108" x 108" in size.

Why we call a King bed a luxury not only reflects on its scale but also on its high requirements for bedroom's space. To comfortably fit a king-size bed, it is recommended that your bedroom be at least 12' x 12'.

King beds’ large scale, the most distinguishing characteristic, brings plenty of advantages that meet the different needs of different families.

For couples, these spacious beds offer each person 38 inches of their own comfort space, containing adequate elbow room for restless sleepers, so that they will not disturb each other's sleep.

It is also a good choice for families with young kids who love to snuggle with mom and dad on weekend mornings. See? A king-size bed can do good for family relationships in other many ways.

A King bed is large enough to accommodate every family member when it comes to a movie marathon, a heartfelt talk, or such little family bonding. For new moms who are dedicated to taking care of kids with nightmare strikes at midnight, a king size bed is also a good choice that brings them convenience. It is even suitable for couples/families with pets that can extend bed privileges to their larger dogs.

A king bed is fascinating no doubt. Someone with constraints on budgets may consider turning two twin beds into a king bed. It sounds great, but is not that easy as imagined.

The size of a standard king-size mattress is 76" x 80", while that of a standard twin bed mattress is 38"x 75". Putting two standard twin mattresses together would be a piece of cake, but this presents a problem: it will end up with a perfect fit width-wise, but the bed will be a whopping 5 inches shorter in length unless the both two twin beds are 80-inch-long.

If budget allows, a king-size bed is worth buying. From a modern luxury look to a romantic, Minimalist, and elegant look, dress your king size bed into whatever you like.

If your King bed is equipped with a bedhead, it's always a good idea to add height with pillows as these will frame the rest of your styling.

Besides, putting a blanket on top of the flat sheet, and then folding the quilt and the blanket halfway down the bed can add layers to that whole look, making it appear more inviting and plush.
